right now tuesdays + wednesdays are jim's days off...
and since it's so hot out right now we decided to head to the beach!
sage collecting rocks.
we brought home a TON of rocks.
emerson pretending he was my buried treasure.
so stinking cute.
and yes. i finally turned the camera on myself.
note: all of the pictures of us out and about lately have been shot with my canon point and shoot. not my big camera. i definetly chill out at the beach a bit more with out it. :)
this morning we went to the farm that we buy our eggs from to pick up the 4 chickens we bought from them. (not for pets. for the freezer.) sage was so excited because they let her hold this cute baby goat for awhile. she was in heaven!
and this past friday we went to millenium park with jennifer + sydney.
it was hot. but fun.
the kids loved it.
it's just a small man made lake...but it's nice because it's shallow all the way to the cleary marked buoys.
a couple of years ago i tried a homemade playdough recipe online and it didn't turn out at all. but my friend lara (also emerson's speech therapist) gave us this recipe and i finally tried it today! it's SO easy and it's awesome. i already knew it was going to be good though because she gave emerson some to bring home one day.
here's what you need:
2 1/2 cups of flour
1/2 cup salt
1 tablespoon of alum (found in the spice section)
2 packages kool-aid
3 tablespoons of oil
2 cups of boiling water

mix the dry ingredients together while waiting for the water to boil
add the oil and water to the dry ingredients
mix it up as much as you can with a spoon
then let it cool for a couple of minutes because it's HOT
knead the dough with your hands until it's all mixed up
i added about another 1/4 cup of flour...you don't want it to be sticky but you also don't want to add too much because it will harden once it's cool.

(the batch emerson got lasted about 3 weeks before it started losing it's texture)
we've had people here working on some things on the house the past 3 days so the kids have started to get a bit restless. i saw this idea on a blog a couple months ago and i thought i bookmarked it but i can't find it! i did not come up with this idea on my own. if you've seen the idea too and have a link pretty please let me know.
anyways! i had the kids go outside and get some sticks and rocks and then i gave them some some glue dots and googley eyes to put on them.
they LOVE them. it was hilarious listening to them play with them.

It has been nearly two years since my photo session price has increased...
But anything booked after July 20th will now be $200.
If you book a photo session for this year by July 20th you will still receive my current rate of $150. To clarify you can have your photo session any time from now through December of 2011. You just need to have your deposit in and session booked by July 20th.
This includes engagements, maternity, newborn, child, pets, seniors and families with up to 5 people. Each additional family member is an additional $15.
Half of the session fee is due as a non-refundable deposit at the time you book your photo shoot. The other half is due the day of your photo shoot.
The fee includes up to an hour and a half photo session time at the location of your choice. I am located in Allegan but travel to Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids often. And I am willing to travel anywhere. Just contact me for a price if you are interested in having your shoot outside these areas.
You will receive a CD within 2 weeks of your session with a photo release that allows you to print your pictures in any sizes you desire. Your CD will have 20-30 images from your session in color and/or black and white.

ry + bree and her girls invited the kids and i to meet up with them and their friends at the beach this afternoon. i had sworn i wasn't going to go outside today because i had a horrible headache yesterday from the heat. (az people...zip it. 90 is hot to me.) so glad we went. the kids and i had a blast. i'll let the pictures do the talking.
ok.first of all a couple of pictures of my gorgeous kids.

we were cleaning out an area of our yard today and when I turned this old Jeep windshield over this is what I found! i'm usually pretty easily creeped out by spiders but this one was so interesting to watch! she was tearing the egg sac open and the babies were coming out. it was amazing! if you dare...enlarge the second picture. i'd never seen the inside of an egg sac before. it's pretty insane!!
ok. to finish up this random post this is my garlic from my garden!
i had 30 heads of garlic. some were pretty tiny (i need to ask uncle bob about that) but i was still SO excited.
i have tomatoes, hot peppers, green peppers, green beans, red potatoes, cucumbers, basil, peppermint and lavender in my garden right now!

on a side note i've been busy editing pictures from the wedding i shot on the 25th. and we've also managed to get a ton done around here! we have a fence put up along our property line now! and we replaced the upstairs toilet today. loads of fun. i have so many more pictures i want to post but they will have to wait until i finish up these wedding pictures! it shouldn't be too much longer! i hope you're all having a wonderful summer.
