i found this quote several places this week...
and i love it.
i've been reminding my slow self that this week since i started running/jogging again.
feels good. reallly hoping my hip doesn't start hurting really bad again.
this week was the first time i've gone since april because my hip has been hurting so much.
my dicing skills don't compare.
but this stuff is GOOD.

note: i just used one hungarian wax pepper from my garden instead of buying a jalepeno pepper. that was plenty hot for me!

i gave emerson this dog (his name is sarge) this morning.
his tag says something about protecting people.
(the tag is lost now)
emerson loved that the dog could protect him though.
and his blanket got to take a day trip.
he's usually not allowed to have it leave the house anymore.

his surgery went great and he's recovering nicely so far!
realllly hoping things continue this way! he's a trooper!
tonight emerson said to me...
"mom. what if when i grow up to be a farmer i marry you?!"
and i said to him...
"you're sweet...but i think when you grow up you're going to find a pretty girl you'll want to marry."
and he said to me...
"just like dad found a pretty girl to marry and it was you."

p.s. emerson is having surgery in the morning to have his tonsils removed.
reallllly hoping that this will help him not get sick so often!
and realllllly hoping that everything goes perfectly tomorrow and that he recovers quickly.
this boy seriously cracks me up with the things he says everyday.
i really need to be better about writing them down...
so here are a few recent things he's said:
while sage was picking out some nail polish i told her to pick a pretty color. emerson said, "mom. i don't need to pick a pretty color...i need to pick out a handsome color."
most days when i tell him it's time to get ready for bed he'll say, "but mom this day only lasted a minute! it wasn't long enough!that wasn't fun."
he wants to be a farmer when he grows up so there are so many times he'll say, "i'll do that when i'm a farmer." for example i'll say, "emerson you need to keep your room clean." and he'll say, "when i'm a farmer i'll keep my room clean."
a couple of weeks ago i was talking to emerson about starting preschool. he told me he wasn't going to start school until he's 6. and i told him again that he was going to be 4 when he starts. then he said, "i think i'd like to start never."
tonight's supper was awesome.
green beans from the garden cooked with garlic from the garden.
mashed red potatoes from the garden.
and steak tips. (we didn't grow those).
it was perfect.

when i was in arizona my niece riley was wearing the cutest skirt!
when i asked lindsay where it was from she told me she made it.
and i promptly asked her if i got the supplies if she would make one for sage.
the supplies were an adult cotton t-shirt and matching ribbon.
she did. and it came in the mail today. i looooove it!
i wanted to get a couple of pictures of her in it even though it's blazing hot outside.
and as you can see below sage was being a wee bit ornery.
she loves the skirt lindsay!

but this one is better.
where on earth have i been? for real.
i am in love with adobe lightroom now.
the wade's were in town (well a couple hours away) on monday...
so the kids and i headed up for the day to hang out with them!
we had a fun day at the beach...
i realllly wished i had a boogie board...the waves were big!
jim had to work...bummer.
