it won't be like this for long.

that's what i keep trying to tell myself.

the past couple of weeks have been pretty rough.

i've written and deleted a couple of posts in the last few days.

trying to decide how little or how much to share here.

as lots of you already know this is the fifth week that jim has been laid off.

i picked up a few extra shifts this week...so things have been a little different!

we are doing the best we can with what we have going on.

hoping things change for the better soon...

i'm already starting to get bookings for spring + summer photo shoots!

i cannot wait for spring + summer.

 

caterpillars + warm sun + walking barefoot + beaches + playing outside for hours.

and of course taking lots + lots + lots of pictures!

so so so ready.

because of our current situation our az trip is postponed.

as of right now it looks like we won't get out there until the end of august.

as you can imagine that was quite a bummer.

i haven't been home since may of last year.

so that's what's going on in our neck of the woods.

i know i'm behind on emails...i'm hoping to get caught up tomorrow!

thanks so much for the birthday calls + emails + gifts last week!

oh! i have to write something funny sage said on our way home tonight!

she said, "mom, mrs. dunn (her teacher) and aunt mary kay don't know what do a freak is!"

jim and i looked at each other...neither of us sure what she meant.

and obviously a little concerned.

when we asked her to clarify she said, "you know if you're happy and you know it do a freak!"

jim finally caught on (while i was trying REALLY hard not to bust out laughing) and realized she meant the fourth verse when you say if you're happy and you know it DO ALL THREE! apparently we need to speak a little more clearly around here.

 

this is how we're all feeling right now.

it's been a l o n g week.

hopefully i'll feel up to posting tomorrow!

Grandpa Scripps

jim's grandpa scripps passed away this morning.

he would have been 95 in may.

here are a few of my favorite pictures! i've been scanning tons the last couple days...it has been so fun to learn more about him.

my beautiful friend kelly had her baby boy last night!

grayson paul johnson was born at 9:12pm.

he weighed 7lbs 8oz and was 20 inches long.

i got to go up to the hospital this afternoon + hold him + take pictures of him + visit with his momma + daddy!

he is absolutely beautiful.

congratulations johnsons!

we love you guys!

thursday evening jim + sage headed to north carolina to help jim's mom out for the weekend. which left emerson + i at home! (i chose to stay...it was just too crazy with emerson last time) one day after i got out of the shower i came into the living room + saw this! he had grabbed the bag of goldfish crackers off of the kitchen counter + got a hat on (janet it's the one you made him!) + crawled up into the rocking chair all by himself + was watching cartoons. he was perfectly content.

 

kristin came over on friday evening + brought slurpees. we got pizza + made our art journal cards + watched because i said so.that night definetly went by the fastest for me! thanks again kristin!!

52Q week 4: when i look into my eyes i see...

 

it reads: a girl who worries too much. who is trying to be a better momma + wife + friend. a girl who is fiercly loyal. sensitive. who needs to learn to relax. someone who loves her kids + husband so much it aches. a girl who is thankful for her friendships. a girl who is trying to let go + be who she really is.

52Q week 5: how do i feel today?

 

on the back it simply says:

like i'm not good at being alone.

and it's true! this weekend i felt a little crazy. i have had way more time to myself. (especially with half as many people to clean up after! ha!) but the things is i didn't even know what to do with myself! of course there were a hundred things i could do...but i just sat here in a stupor half the time. i've totally forgotten how to be alone + just BE ME. that is something i will be working on.

yesterday emerson + i did get out and go to the mall. i had to at least SEE some other adults! i love bookstores. i could spend hours wandering around a bookstore. but i settled for half an hour because that's about as much as E could take. i picked up this awesome journal! i'm loving it already!

jim and sage SHOULD be leaving granny's house VERY soon to make their way back to me! this is the longest i've ever gone without seeing sage! so i CANNOT wait to have them back home! :)

  but we did on sunday! being from arizona how could we NOT watch the big game?!

*which ended so sadly!!*

it was so funny because sage had NO CLUE why we were freaking out + clapping at the tv!!

jim made a delicious chili for supper.  these chips from costco are THE BEST.

   

and then i made a blueberry pie. i used blueberries i had frozen from the summer! next year i will be freezing TONS more. the crust does not look as beautiful as the chicken pot pie one i did last week. if you can't read it is says CARDS. as in cardinals.

cheesy? yes! delicious? YES!!! it was so nice to have a taste of summer in the middle of this dreadful winter! yes. i'm ready for winter to be OVER.

yesterday was a no tv and no wii day.

my goal is to have every other day be that way now.

sage and i built that huge tower on the windowsill.

unfortunately a couple hours later it came tumbling down on her head when emerson was pretending to drive one of his matchbox cars up the side.

 

   

right now i'm busy trying to organize + give more stuff away.

jim and i do not come by this naturally. it takes work.

but it's part of my word RELEASE for the year.

i'm letting things go. lots and lots of things.

see i have this problem.

i remember who gave me everything i have in my house + when.

this includes wedding gifts. my toaster? from the falconers.

my pillows? from the prices.

that is a lot of wasted brain space!!

i HATE that. i worry WAY too much about what if this person comes over and the toy they gave sage isn't here anymore because i gave it to goodwill?!

so. i'm trying really hard to just LET IT GO.
