tonight we had...

 

homemade chicken pot pie!

 

here.

it's the first time i've had it. gasp!

i'm not a fan of foods being all mixed together.

but this is good.

michelle gave me the recipe and the heads up that the pie crusts were on sale for 99 cents. (i had never used premade crust before...but it was good! i had to decorate the top a little though.) so i decided to give it a try. and it turned out awesome! we even had someone over for supper + they approved too!

and sage and i also made rice krispie treats today.

which i hadn't done in ages.

the kids liked those better than the pot pie.

sunshine.

 

she really is my sunshine.

i love that smile so much.

of course she has her moments that make me a little crazy.

but i'd say a good 90% of the time she's a sweet sassy sunshiney girl to be around!

i'm hoping to be coming out to az soon. possibly even the end of next month. or the beginning of march. i had a couple people express interest in photo sessions if i were to come out soon. so.......if you are interested please email me! i'd like to have some idea before i decide how long i'll be staying! :)

52Q week 3: do you believe in fairies? (and our rockstar friends)

   

 

mine reads: we love fairies! sage gets to build fairy houses with her granny + she has made lots of hiding places for them under her playhouse! i love that she believes!

tonight jessica (my niece) + aaron + alex + grant came over for pizza + wii!

we had SO much fun!! jessica + i even made a run to 7-11 for slurpees! yum!

the kids all play great together. so lucky to have them close by.

and i forgot to post pictures of copper's first birthday party!

he turned one on monday. but kristin was coming over on tuesday so we decided to have a "party" for him. sage was begging to have a birthday party for him!

we put up streamers + sage and i made party hats! copper got new doggy dishes + a dog bone that was almost as big as he was.

and i totally forgot to take a picture of kristin with her hat on.

we had brownies + ice cream to celebrate.

ok! time for bed! happy saturday night!

dreaming of warm sunshine on my skin.

 

it's been a crazy week. 

jim did end up with the flu on monday. 

i got my first ride in a tow truck. 

i ended up watching part of the inauguration in a state farm office while waiting for the tow truck...listening to the next part on the radio in the tow truck...and finishing up listening to it when i made it home.

the jeep got a new fuel pump. 

emerson had round 2 of the flu last night. 

but i have to say i'm doing remarkably well.

my sweet friend michelle volunteered to pick sage up from school when i couldn't get there because i was waiting for the tow truck.

my wonderful friend kristin came over that night + we had a birthday party for copper + we made our art journal tags (i'll take pics tomorrow) + watched american idol.

my fantastic friend kelly called me the next day when i was having a meltdown + blasted "be ok" by ingrid michaelson on the radio.

sage + jim brought me home flowers after they ran a couple errands.

last night i took a hot bubble bath + read a book. note to self...do this more often!

today i got to have a 90 minute facial.

it was heavenly. and i needed it so badly!

my friend kristin is going to the aveda school downtown + she's fabulous.

if you live around here you should go see her. prices are cheap since it's a school + the place is amazing.

i realize i haven't been taking very good care of myself. i stress too much. i don't drink enough water. i don't read often enough.

i'll be getting another 90 minute facial next month on my birthday.

do something good for yourself today.

52Q week 2: am i afraid of change?

yes! i do not do well with change at all. part of the reason i chose the word RELEASE for the year is because i need to release my grip...go with the flow. by nature i am anxious...but i am working on it.

i have a set of these french flash cards that i'd been wanting to use forever!

i am afraid of change. i am afraid of growing up and living by myself. and i am not afraid of sharks and frogs changing.

we aren't pushing her to move out anytime soon! she cracks us up though. one day she told me she needed a coat rack. and i said why? we have one! and she told me she needed one for her house when she grows up. so i promised her we'd be sure she had one when the time came.

the stomach flu made it's way to our house yesterday.

jim seems to have escaped it at this point.

and i THINK the rest of us are on the mend!

I had to go into the kitchen and check this out for myself. Whoever looks at the end of your aluminum foil box? You know when you try to pull some foil out and the roll comes out of the box. Then you have to put the roll back in the box and start over. The darn roll always comes out at the wrong time.

Well, I would like to share this with you. Yesterday I went to throw out an empty Reynolds foil box and for some reason I turned it and looked at the end of the box. And written on the end it said, Press here to lock end. Right there on the end of the box is a tab to lock the roll in place. How long has this little locking tab been there? I then looked at a generic brand of aluminum foil and it had one, too. I then looked at a box of Saran wrap and it had one too! I can't count the number of times the Saran wrap roll has jumped out when I was trying to cover something up.

I'm sharing this with my friends. I hope I'm not the only person that didn't know about this.

will i go 4 months without seeing this girl.

it's hard to believe that the next time i see her she will be holding her new little boy. she (fairly unwillingly) let me take a few pictures of her while we were up for our visit. i think she looks gorgeous.

i have a few more i'll post on my photography blog soon! this is one of my favorites though.

we had a wonderful weekend with the johnsons.

when we got home today i decided to tackle our hall closet.

let me tell you it was no small task. it was the catch all.

i should have taken a before and after.

i have lots of stuff that is going to goodwill tomorrow!

52Q sage + mama

some of you might remember that for 2006 i did a year of art journal cards using emily's prompts each week. i loved it so much. well this year she's doing it again! only this time instead of playing cards she's using tags. (you can use anything you like really!) so today i did my first tag. and i talked sage into doing these with me each week. i'm actually more excited to see her stack at the end of the year than mine!

to make more art. worry less. dream more. read more books. play on the floor with the kids. make healthier choices. be confident. take more pictures. love myself. go on more walks. soak up more sunshine.

i wish that sharks wouldn't be naughty anymore + that i can keep taking my vitamins.

i better not skip a day for awhile!

i got this awesome book shelf at a thrift store for $5!

it hangs in sage's room + she loves it!

 

and this is the amazing quilt that my mother in law made me for Christmas.

i love it so much. tons of vintage fabric.

 

and leftovers for lunch. jim is the best cook.

he grilled burgers + made oven fries last night.

   

my friend kristin came over + had supper with us + then we watched (don't be mad at me mindy!) sisterhood of the traveling pants 1 + 2! it was just what i needed. a stress free chick flick night. and kristin made popcorn on the stove. and it was SO good.

ok. more tomorrow. i promise! i better get to sleep though...i don't think i've mentioned this here...but a couple of months ago i started making homemade rolls + a roast on tuesdays. and it's stuck! so i have to get that all started before i take sage to school in the morning!!
